Christopher Hitchens is dead.
I would not be the man I am today without Christopher Hitchens. He aided in changing my life in such a profound way that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to accurately put down in words how much of an impact he had on me. His books, speeches, and unapologetic mockery of religion was one of the catalysts that caused me to question and eventually shed my faith in the religion of my forefathers. Without him and a handful of other outspoken anti-theists, I may well still be blindly following the literal translation of an ancient book written by a handful of illiterate goat herders. I am profoundly saddened by his passing, but I’m at least relieved that he is no longer suffering. God is not great.
Thank you for everything, Mr. Hitchens.
